Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is not expecting Luke Shaw to make a return to action before the next international break cagayan
Left-back Shaw has not played since the 2-0 loss at Tottenham on August 19, United’s second fixture of the season, due to a muscle injury – sitting out nine club games as well as four England matches cagayan
Ten Hag’s men are set to play seven times cagayan between now and England’s next game, against Malta on November 17 cagayan
United have been blighted by injuries in defence, with right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka another who has been sidelined since sustaining an injury against Brighton on September 18 cagayan
Ten Hag said: “Of course they are closer cagayan
(But) for Luke Shaw, I don’t expect him back in this block of games cagayan
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, I don’t think he’s too far away from returning to team training and so back in the team cagayan
”United travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United on Saturday night without Casemiro, who emerged from Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela last Friday and Uruguay five days later with an injury cagayan
“In the first game he came off but then he played the second game, it was an important one,” Ten Hag said of the midfielder, who is suspended for next Tuesday’s Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen cagayan
“I’m sure that game didn’t help him, but it’s a small injury, he’ll return (from Brazil) next week, it will be healed and then he’s ready for our next (league) game (against Manchester City), I’m sure cagayan
”United do have defensive pair Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon available again after injury lay-offs, while Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez are other defenders still sidelined alongside Shaw and Wan-Bissaka cagayan
Ten Hag – whose side have lost six times in all competitions this term and are 10th in the Premier League – has stressed of injuries that he will “never use it as an excuse” but believes it has not helped new goalkeeper Andre Onana settle after a number of mistakes since his summer arrival from Inter Milan cagayan
“Of course when every time you have a different defending line in front of you it is not helpful… but you have to deal with it,” Ten Hag added cagayan
“But it didn’t help for the results and it didn’t help his integration, absolutely cagayan
”Ten Hag has said defender Victor Lindelof is “ready” to play against Sheffield United after his distressing experience earlier in the week cagayan
Lindelof captained the Sweden side whose Euro 2024 qualifier against Belgium in Brussels on Monday was abandoned after two Swedish fans were shot dead and another injured three miles from the stadium cagayan
Ten Hag also indicated there has been no change in terms of Jadon Sancho, who has been training away from the first team, with the club having said that is “pending resolution of a squad discipline issue” cagayan
England’s 3-1 win over Italy on Tuesday saw Marcus Rashford score a fine goal – having netted only once previously this season – and Harry Maguire play the full duration in defence cagayan
Ten Hag said: “I enjoyed the (performances from the) players involved from us – you saw the qualities cagayan
The form the last games was maybe not that good, but I’m sure I will back them, I trust them, I believe in them and I’m sure they’ll be back in very good shape cagayan
”United head into Saturday’s match amid considerable talk about their ownership situation, with Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim last weekend understood to have ended his attempt to buy the club, while INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly looking to purchase a 25 per cent stake that could see him take over cagayan football operations cagayan
Ten Hag said he had not spoken to co-chairman Joel Glazer cagayan
“In this moment I’m not involved so I don’t know cagayan
What I know are the agreements I made once I signed this contract,” he said cagayan
“Until I hear anything I just keep focusing on my job, in this structure, and that is winning games and get the best out of the season cagayan

World Rugby have insisted their new plans for a “Nations Championship or Cup” are “for the many, not the few” despite critics suggesting that it will block the progress of emerging nations cagayan
The sport’s governing body have unveiled a new global calendar that will include the creation of a new, two-tier competition in 2026 cagayan
The top tier will include the four Rugby Championship teams, the Six Nations and two more sides yet to be confirmed but expected to be Japan and Fiji cagayan
Below this will sit a second tier of a further 12 teams, with the earliest that one of those dozen could feature in the top tier being 2032 cagayan
And World Rugby insist that the “certainty and opportunity” that regular fixtures against peers will provide is where the real opportunities for development exist cagayan
“If rugby is to become a truly global sport, we simply have to make it more relevant and more accessible to more people around the world,” said Bill Beaumont, chairman of World Rugby cagayan
Bill Beaumont and Alan Gilpin have defended World Rugby’s plans (Getty Images)“A new era is about to begin for our sport cagayan
An era that will bring certainty and opportunity for all cagayan
An era that will support the many, not the few and an era that will supercharge the development of the sport beyond its traditional and often self-imposed boundaries cagayan
All boats will rise together cagayan
”Alan Gilpin, chief executive, added: “There is more certainty for more nations as a result of today’s decisions than there has ever been cagayan
It is not perfect cagayan
Would we all like relegation and promotion and pathways in these competitions to start sooner in some cases than they are? Absolutely cagayan
“But those compromises allow for that type of pathway, that type of relegation to take place in the foreseeable future, rather than not in the foreseeable future, which is what the status quo provides cagayan
Is it perfect? Probably not cagayan
Is it a hell of a lot cagayan better than the current situation? Absolutely cagayan
”The revamped calendar will not include a “Nations Championship” in years in which a men’s World Cup or British & Irish Lions tour will occur, in theory providing room for increased “crossover” fixtures cagayan
World Rugby could not provide any clarity on what these fixtures will be, and admitted that no agreements had yet been put in place, though insisted that there will be a 50 per cent aggregate increase cagayan
That would mean a rise from 18 to 27 games for the 12 teams, though it is unclear how these fixtures will be allocated or arranged cagayan
Gilpin said: “I think what we say to the teams – Portugal, Chile, others that have had fantastic tournaments here – is this competition structure from 2026 will provide them with guaranteed certain schedules, particularly against their peers, which is actually the type of teams they need to be playing against, in July and November on an annual basis cagayan
Portugal upset Fiji to secure their first Rugby World Cup win (Getty Images)“In addition, the package that was agreed today provides for more crossover fixtures for what we used to call tier one and tier two fixtures in the years when this championship isn’t being played than is currently the case cagayan
So, 50 per cent more guaranteed crossover fixtures in those other years than is currently the case, in addition to guaranteed fixtures against their peers that they don’t currently have cagayan
“This is about looking at other years – traditionally what we have called ‘Lions years’ and the Rugby World Cup years – and populating those periods with fixtures that allow those possibilities and that the high-performance unions agreeing that some of their Rugby World Cup warm-up matches have to be against those other teams cagayan
”Bill Sweeney, chief executive of England’s Rugby cagayan Football Union (RFU), was later unclear on whether England would be open to touring or playing fixtures against emerging nations cagayan
He did, however, confirm that talks were underway over a fixture cagayan between a resurrected England ‘A’ and Portugal after a standout tournament for Os Lobos cagayan
“We’re all interested in growing the game globally,” Sweeney explained cagayan
“We saw Portugal here and Chile, they were great competitors cagayan
So we’re fully supportive of that cagayan
I think there’s a number of factors here that people should feel encouraged about in terms of emerging nations cagayan
